Strategy is not easily formed, as there are a big number of issues involved, a big number of people involved and big number of processes. Strategy usually entails change, and change is never easy and usually not accepted. A company must focus on something tangible and robust that will offer a sustainable competitive advantage. Technology is easily copied, strategies and processes are effortlessly replicated, and thus the company should enforce and raise barriers of entry and replication to its rivals. The issue here is how, to integrate IT within the overall business strategy, not to re-invent or re-engineer but to extended and enhance these for better productivity, decision making and ultimately revenue.
