By Andreas Maratheftis on Friday, 22 of February , 2008 at 10:42 am

Reading blogs and subscribing to feeds whenever i find a good post or something interesting has become my latest habit and i must admit-an addiction. I am subscribed to over 60 blogs most of them on IT,news, photography, business and general interest. I recommend the following:

  1. Digg-Everyone knows Digg.I know it’s not a blog but it’s a site that almost everyone needs to have in their erm,..”weapons arsenal”.(Reminds me of a professor of mine that used to say, books is the edge of the sword of our profession etc etc).I usually subscribe to the news, technology and business sections. An amazing way to stay up to date and find resources recommended by loads of of other people.
  2. Gizmodo. The latest technology gadgets and reviews. A must!
  3. Shlashdot. As the site says, news for nerds.
  4. TechCrunch. As the site says- a weblog dedicated to obsessively profiling and reviewing new Internet products and companies. In addition to covering new companies, we profile existing companies that are making an impact (commercial and/or cultural) on the new web space.
  5. Wired. General news, technology and science. Nice!
  6. A list apart. “A List Apart Magazine (ISSN: 1534-0295) explores the design, development, and meaning of web content, with a special focus on web standards and best practices.”
  7. Agile Advice. A blog dedicated to agile development methodologies.
  8. Coding Horror. The author states “I needed a way to keep track of software development over time– whatever I am thinking about or working on. I can research things I find interesting, document my research in public with a blog post, then easily find and refer to these blog posts later. Hopefully other people will find these posts helpful, relevant, or interesting”.
  9. Dan Blank. Publishing,Innovation and the Web. A must read.
  10. del.icio.us. I subscribed to the popular list,i keep the ones i like in my own list. An amazing way of finding new resources-on everything.
  11. DotNetSlackers. If you are into .NET this is the best site out there. It brings together a wide range of articles and blog posts from a big number of sites.
  12. Financial Times Technology. Technology from a business point of view.
  13. Joel On Software. I don’t think this needs any introduction.
  14. Jon Galloway. Various posts on .NET
  15. LifeHacker. Tips and downloads to getting things done. Excellent.
  16. Martin Fowler. A number of posts on agile, design,UML,etc. Good stuff.
  17. ReadWriteWeb is a popular weblog that provides Web Technology news, reviews and analysis
  18. Rough Type. Nicholas Carr’s blog. One of my favourite authors.

By Andreas Maratheftis on Thursday, 21 of February , 2008 at 12:48 pm

I’ve been to a couple of IT Project Management and Business Analysis interviews myself, so I thought that it would be a good idea to share the experience. Most of the interviews roughly are the same and most of these I get in most of the interviews I have been. I am not going to try and answer these questions since I think It’s knowledge specific and it just comes down to what you believe and what you have experienced until now. Search my site, you will find a lot of the answers in my posts and articles. However feel free to add more in the comments.
Am not going to say how the interviews really start etc, it is usually some form of ice-breaker, tell us about yourself, “we will go through your CV and ask questions on the way etc, it varies.

11. Given this scenario build a Swot/Pest /Rich Picture diagram?
